LSR 3-1
The LSR 3-1 apparatus employs the same double-yoke design as LSR1. The Loads due to confining pressure and differential stress are decoupled and pressure remains constant while advancing the load piston. This apparatus can be used for Uniaxial compression, or triaxial compression and extension at constant strain rate or constant stress (with a stress resolution of 1 MPa). The loading frame has a 980-kN loading capacity, specimens up to 50 mm in diameter and 200 mm in length, and can achieve strain rates from 10-3 to 10-9 s-1. This apparatus is used for UCS tests without a pressure vessel, but can run triaxial tests with a pressure vessel under similar conditions as the LSR 1 apparatus.
